Letters to the Editor
Letters to the Editor should be at least somewhat respectful, free of libelous language and to the point. We may withhold your name upon request, but we do need to know what city you’re from and an email address or phone number to get in touch with you. We do not pay for Letters to the Editor.

Guest Editorials/Essays
Guest Editorials/Essays are longer than Letters to the Editor and may cover local or national topics, but should be timely and appeal to the politically progressive Lawrencian. We do not pay for Guest Editorials/Essays.

Blogs
Would you like to have your very own blog? Email us with your idea for a blog and maybe we'll get you set up. We don't pay for online blogs, but if we decide to pick up one of your blogs for print, we'll pay you a little sumthin' sumthin'.

Book Reviews
Have you read a good book lately that would appeal to your fellow Lawrencian bookworms? Book reviews should be objective and no more than 500 words. Please submit a scan of the book cover with your review, or let us know where we can obtain an image of the book online. We pay $20—or a year’s subscription to The Lawrencian—for good book reviews. Due to space constraints, we may have to refuse your book review. Please don’t take this personally.

Poetry
Occasionally, we have space for poetry. Sorry, we don’t pay for poetry at this time.

Fiction
Very, very, occasionally, we have space for fiction, but don’t hold your breath. We sincerely hope that someday we’ll be able to print fiction stories on a regular basis. Payment is nominal.

Photos
Have you been to a protest lately—in or outside of Lawrence? Perhaps you marched in the Pride Parade, or took photos at a fundraising event, or attended a really rockin’ concert that would appeal to your fellow Lawrencian readers. If we have room, we’d love to print your photos of such events. Please send photos, with cut-line information, as jpegs, tiffs or PDFs. Sorry, we don’t pay for photos.

Historical Pieces
Sometimes, we love to let people know how Lawrence used to be. If you have a good story from times gone by, send it to us. Who knows, we might have space. Payment is nominal.

Feature Stories
Do you have an idea for a Feature Story that’s either not being reported on in Lawrence or being slaughtered by other media outlets? Are you a good writer? Are you familiar with journalistic writing ? Then contact us about your feature story idea. We might just give you the go-ahead to report on it. Generally, Feature Story payment starts at $50 and goes up from there.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO EDIT OR REFUSE ANY AND ALL MATERIAL SUBMITTED TO THE LAWRENCIAN. We do not, however, own your writings. The writer always retains all rights to his or her material and may sell it anyplace else he or she can!
