K-2 Is In Stock Now

K-2 is a legal substitute for marijuana.  The Kansas State Collegian reports that the the ingredients include a selection of herbs and "two synthesized cannabinoids that are added to the mixture."  Scared Journey - downtown in Lawrence, Kansas  - is selling bags of the stuff maybe because they are the only reported story in Kansas to have the drug in stock.  However, the party may be over soon as reported in the Pitch Plog,  it looks like State Representative, Peggy Mast, has it on her radar and is talking about making it illegal.

President's Remarks at Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

On  December 3rd, 2009 at 5:25 P.M. EST, President Obama was called upon the light the National Christmas Tree.  Here is a condensed version of his words:

Tonight, we celebrate a story that is as beautiful as it is simple.  The story of a child born far from home to parents guided only by faith, but who would ultimately spread a message that has endured for more the 2,000 years - that no matter who we are or where we are from, we are each called to love one another as brother and sister.

While this story may be a Christian one, its lesson is universal.  It speaks to the hope we share as a people.  And it represents a tradition that we celebrate as a country –- a tradition that has come to represent more than any one holiday or religion, but a season of brotherhood and generosity to our fellow citizens.

WASHINGTON—U.S. Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R-Goddard) issued the following statement [on December 4, 2009] after the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 11,000 American jobs were lost during the month of November, keeping the national unemployment rate at double digits.

Mangino Resigns As Kansas Head Football Coach

The University of Kansas website (click here for original posting) reports that Mark Mangino has resigned his position as head football coach at the University of Kansas, effective immediately.

The site additionally reports that the Kansas Athletics Director Lew Perkins is appreciative of Mangino's eight years of service:  

“We appreciate the eight years that Mark has given to rebuilding our football program,” Kansas Athletics Director Lew Perkins said.  “He and I have reached a mutually satisfactory agreement that reflects the appreciation we have for his efforts on behalf of Kansas Football.
