Senator Roberts Remarks on President’s Afghanistan PlanSenator Roberts posted remarks on his website regarding the President's plan for Afghanistan:

“I have long said that in order to finish the missions in both Iraq and Afghanistan, we must trust the advice of our commanders on the ground,” Senator Roberts said. “I am especially confident in experienced leaders like General Petraeus and General Caldwell, who both recently served as the Commanding General at Fort Leavenworth. I have no doubt that General Petraeus is bringing his extensive experience to bear and that General Caldwell is working hard to ensure the Afghan forces will eventually be self sufficient, allowing our troops to come home."

Letter from Vice Pres Biden on Afghanistan Policy
Written by info@barackobama.com

Last night, President Obama laid out his plan to defend our national interest by refocusing our efforts on three clear goals: defeating al Qaeda, stabilizing Pakistan, and breaking the Taliban's momentum in Afghanistan.

To achieve these goals, the President has authorized the rapid deployment of 30,000 more troops in Afghanistan, with a firm commitment to begin bringing our troops home in 2011.

It's a clean break from the failed Afghanistan policy of the Bush administration, and a new, focused strategy that can succeed.

Please take a moment to watch the President's address to the nation and read more about his plan.

Watch the address

Our new strategy ends the era of blank checks for Afghanistan's leaders, facilitates a responsible transition to Afghan security forces, and begins bringing our troops home in 2011.

Please take a moment to listen to President Obama outline his plan -- and pass this along to anyone you know who wants to learn more:

Vice President Joe Biden

Military men and women not only contribute to our nation’s security, but also to the Kansas economy according to a new study commissioned by Governor Mark Parkinson’s Military Council.

“Thousands of Kansans have answered the call to serve and protect our nation, both at home and abroad.  While we can never repay them and their families for the many sacrifices they make on our behalf, we can follow our words with action. Four years ago, we enacted the Kansas Military Bill of Rights to support service men, women and their families,” Parkinson said. “Today, this study reaffirms that thanks to our military bases we are not only a safer and more secure state, but that there is a positive economic impact to Kansas communities. This data strengthens our continuing effort to be the most military-friendly state in the America.”
