Son Venezuela and Grupo Picante headline
St. John the Evangelist Parish, 1234 Kentucky, Lawrence, Kansas, will host its 27th annual Mexican Fiesta on Friday, June 20th and Saturday, June 21st on the church grounds from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Admission is FREE.
Friday's entertainment will feature the St. John's Fiesta Dancers, the dance group Fiesta Folklorica and Lawrence's latin veterans Son Venezuela. Saturday's entertainment will feature Mariachi Habaneros, the St. John's Fiesta Dancers, the dance group Fiesta Folklorica and Grupo Picante. Grupo Picante is fronted by 13 year-old Cruz Gallegos who has received praise from Texas Tejano powerhouse Q-Productions, the production company of slain Tejano superstar Selena.
Live entertainment, authentic Mexican food, concessions, refreshments and t-shirts will be available on both nights. There will be a moonwalk for the kids on both nights, with carnival games on Saturday night only.
