The problem with going in to review a movie as hyped as “Cloverfield” is that it’s hard to go into the theater without expectations. But in order to give an objective review, that’s what a movie critic has to do. But upon reading your review of the movie, your critic went into the theater with a laundry list of what he wanted to see. When it wasn’t there, he declared the movie crap, and called it a day. |

Recently I attempted to cash a check for $129 given to me by
a Lawrence merchant for merchandise
that I returned. I took the check to US
Bank, where it was drawn. I was outraged
to discover that US Bank required me to provide a thumb and forefinger
fingerprint, and pay $5.00 to get money that was rightfully mine. When I objected, the bank manager told me
that, "Every bank does this."
She finally agreed to wave the fee this one time, but I still had to
submit to the humiliation of the fingerprinting.

Chahta Holisso means Choctaw writing.
I inquired about writing in
the Lawrencian and this is the outcome. Some of you may know me from
the numerous letters to the editor that I’ve authored in the Lawrence
Journal-World, Topeka Capitol-Journal, and Kansas City Star. Usually, I
write short, yet historically detailed letters rebutting misinformed
views about historical or legal issues pertaining to the Native peoples
in this vicinity.
